YouTube Originals released a couple of episodes in the second season of its Emmy-nominated series Retro Tech, starring YouTube Creator Marques Brownlee (MKBHD), arguably the biggest tech YouTuber.

Season two of the six-episode series from Vox Media Studios explores the technological promises of the past with special appearances by Bill Gates, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and many more.

It’s 2021 – futurists predicted that the tech of today would bring us flying cars, robot maids, and teleportation. Some are still promises of the future, however, mobile video calls, virtual reality, and even A.I. and quantum computers are quickly becoming a part of daily life.

In season two, Brownlee will unravel these retro tech promises to see just how close we’ve come in 2021 and the direction revolutionary tech is headed next.

How did we all get so hyperconnected? Brownlee is taking a look at where it all started – the simple phone – and how things developed. How we went from answering machines to AOL messenger to Facetime. But he is also taking a look at where it’s all going, and I’m looking at tech that will one day allow us to communicate telepathically.
