NASA has been hunting for extrasolar planets for years using the Kepler Space Telescope.

Recently, NASA teamed up with Google to try and work out smarter ways of discovering these so-called exoplanets. To specifically use the Kepler telescope to look for planets like Earth inside the “habitable zone” of its star.

Now, NASA announced the discovery of a solar system very similar to our own. The distant solar system of Kepler 90i is the only known system besides our own with eighth (known) planets. It ties with our own for the most number of known planets in one system – yet discovered.
