Astrobiology is now a mature science. For the first time in human history, we will no longer need to satisfy ourselves by merely speculating about whether or not we are alone. Using the ever more advanced instruments available to us, we are now able to test it and assign a significance level to the likelihood we are not alone. With more than 3,700 exoplanets (planets around other stars) discovered over the past 30 years, and robots traversing our own solar system, the question “are we alone?” is getting ever closer to getting answered.

In this mini-documentary by brilliant youtube channel “Aperture”, the question is probed at depth, addressing The Drake Equation and the Fermi Paradox.
