Simon Kyaga describes how his first contact with one of the oldest myths of the Western society – the idea of a link between genius and madness – led him into his major field of research. By using the Swedish “goldmine” of epidemiological data, Kyaga is trying to determine if persons with a mental disorder more often have a creative occupation than people without a mental disorder.

Simon Kyaga is a medical doctor specialized in psychiatry and also a Ph.D. student at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. Before he decided to become a medical doctor, Kyaga had very serious plans of becoming a Buddhist monk in Tibet.
